The NES head office held a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support on Friday 30th September and in a separate event our staff members had a donut eating competition, raising a total of £600.
In the UK, there are 2.5 million people living with cancer. The charity’s goal is to ensure people suffering from cancer don’t do so alone, providing medical, financial, and emotional support for both sufferers and their families. The first Macmillan Coffee Morning happened in 1990, with a simple idea that guests would drink coffee and tea together whilst donating the cost of their drink to Macmillan. Since then, the campaign has raised £138 million in total, and last year the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ raised £25 million for Macmillan.
