This is especially important as more and more companies make use of applicant tracking systems (ATS). An ATS is a software application that allows companies to handle their recruitment electronically. The ATS can store, filter and shortlist candidate data based on given criteria such as skills, experience or education. In many cases, once you apply for a role your CV goes straight into an ATS and might not even be seen by a person!
Although the actual number of companies who use this software to handle their hiring needs isn’t known, it’s estimated that almost 60% of all companies and a nearly 100% of the Fortune 500 companies make use of an Applicant Tracking System.
