Global Developer and Manufacturer of Chemical Intermediates
The client was struggling to find a suitable candidate for their site Technical Engineering Manager role. Previously relying on agencies to fill their lower level roles, their usual contacts had failed to evidence significant industry insight in order to obtain a candidate at such an experienced level.
The role location presented a challenge in attracting prospective high-quality candidates as the area is not renowned for chemical specialists. Finding a candidate that was willing to relocate posed a significant barrier to candidate attraction, and combined with the need for exceptionally high level skillsets and a background working within COMAH regulated facilities, the client had thus far failed to interview a single candidate.
As NES possesses a history of sourcing highly-specialised talent for the chemical industry, they enlisted us to overcome the staffing challenge and find a suitable candidate to drive their operations forward.
NES assigned one of our expert discipline-specific consultants to visit the client in person and liaise with the talent acquisition team in order to
develop an in-depth brief detailing the nature of the role, desired technical skills and required personality fit.
Visiting the site was an integral part of our consultant’s ability to understand the daily operations the appointment would entail, enabling the relay of extensive, useful information to prospective candidates who were considering uprooting their entire life for the role.
As the role demanded a niche skillset and had access to a limited talent pool, our consultant ensured maximum exposure for the position by advertising across numerous online UK job boards well affiliated with the chemical industry. A printed advert in the client’s brand was also published in one of the industry’s biggest publications, IChemE TCE magazine, significantly adding credibility to the position and attracting an array of applicants.
The necessary stringent role requirements enabled our consultant to shorten in excess of 50 CVs to just four. Each short-listed candidate was met face-to-face and thoroughly prepared for the interview with the client.
Our strategy delivered four highly qualified candidates to the client, of which two reached second interview stage. Deploying dedicated NES executive search methods ensured that a successful placement was made within the agreed timeframe of three months.
Through positive candidate performances and a solid, consistent delivery, we have proven ourselves as a sustainable business partner and have become the exclusive supplier to our client, providing ongoing support with a series of senior roles.
