Downstream & LNG Case Studies

Global Oil and Gas Operator - Deep Conversion Project

In 2008 NES Global Talent was selected as the preferred manpower supplier to a major Global Oil and Gas Operator, with a USA Petrochemical Company to help support them to undertake a Deep Conversion Project in Port Arthur, TX.

The project included a 50,000 barrel-per-day coker, a desulfurization unit, a vacuum distillation unit, and other related units to maximize the profitability of the site.

This multi-billion dollar project required NES Global Talent to provide personnel ranging from high level Cost Engineers to Field Quantity Surveyors, Contracts Admins and Mechanical Maintenance Technicians. Each candidate was sourced from the local talent pool and put through the industry safety and site specific training courses by NES Global Talent, including specialist needs such as harness training, heights safety and crawl spaces.

Houston based EPC company – Downstream Project

In June 2014 our client won a $500m EPC project for a urea production facility within the US presenting them with the need to significantly increase their manpower in a short time period.

We successfully identified candidates for a number of key direct hire and contract niche technical downstream engineering roles which aided the project’s execution.

Key highlights from the partnership:

  • Built out full downstream FEED/EPC project team of over 40 engineers
  • Streamlined hiring processes and reduced time to hire ratios
  • Built robust marketing strategy to communicate the company brand which targeted passive candidates
  • Improved headcount and workspace management by providing flexible staffing solutions on both contract and permanent hire

LNG Project Case Study

NES Global Talent supported a major gas project in Western Australia, involving the development of gas fields, subsea gas-gathering infrastructure, and a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant.

NES was engaged with the project to search and select staff and contractors from concept development through to construction. NES was a key partner in sourcing qualified engineers that were housed in the USA, United Kingdom and Australia to oversee Pre-FEED, FEED and Detailed Design.

We then supported the client to mobilise engineers working on the project in the USA and England to the project location in Australia, taking care of all Immigration and Logistical Support, to ensure consistency on the project from a resource standpoint (facilitating knowledge transfer). Following the completion of the engineering stage, we helped our client identify local Construction and Commissioning teams supported with expatriate sourced workers that were mobilised by NES Global Talent to ensure project success.

Houston Based EPC Company | LNG Client Overview

In July 2013 our client won its first major FEED / EPC LNG project within the US and the challenge they faced was the need to significantly increase their manpower in a short time period. The chart below demonstrates their staffing schedule and forecast for their particular project:
