Craft Labour for Siemens

Siemens, a leading service provider for high reliability and optimal efficiency of rotating equipment across the global power market, was requested to support an emergency generator outage on one of the United States’ newest and largest nuclear power facilities providing clean energy to over two million Texas based homes, STP. The scope of work was determined as a full generator rewind, requiring 12 highly skilled generator winders across 2 shifts to repair one of the plants nuclear steam turbine generators.

Our Solution

As a leading supplier of skilled craft labour, we were able to quickly step in; dedicating 3 craft discipline consultants to develop a hiring campaign and secure 12 personnel within a 1 week period leading into the generator shutdown. NES was able to compliantly provide personnel qualified for badging for unescorted access to the power station.

The Outcome

The rewind was completed ahead of the anticipated 32 day outage schedule, improving efficiency for Siemens with zero lost-time incidents. Given the success of the project, Siemens provided completion bonuses for all NES personnel; improving retention and securing these winders for future outage needs.


Thermoelectric Power Station

In 2013, our client was awarded the turnkey construction for a thermoelectric power station in South America. They were not only challenged with increasing their manpower for this project in a short period of time, but they were also in need of compliant expat talent as well as the development of local talent in-country.

Qurayyah Power Station

The Qurayyah Power Station is a combined cycle power plant in Saudi Arabia with an installed capacity of 4 GW, meeting one tenths of the country’s current power demand.

Our client was awarded the components supply for the commissioning of six power blocks of the Qurayyah Power Station to include gas turbines, generators and steam turbines together with the appropriate electrical systems. The order volume exceeded $1bn.

Retained Search

Our client, a leading global power and transmission business, needed to appoint a new UK Managing Director for one of its divisions. Following the successful completion of previous recruitment projects for the client, NES Global Talent was asked to undertake a confidential and exclusive retained search assignment to find the perfect fit for the role.

Our Solution

As the company required a candidate with a niche skillset, including low and medium voltage sales knowledge, as well as experience of managing a market-leading business, we had to take an extremely targeted approach. We dedicated a search consultant full time to the project and tasked a team of skilled researchers with identifying companies that would most likely contain the right people with the specific skills and experience required for this high level position. Following an extensive search process, we compiled a shortlist of five potential candidates for the client. Our search consultant liaised with both parties, arranged interviews and ensured that the process ran smoothly.

The Outcome

Three people were invited for the second stage of client interviews, with one being chosen for a final stage interview and presentation. An offer was made and accepted and the candidate is now successfully performing the role.
