POSITION TITLE: Sr. Process Engineering
JOB TYPE: Fixed Term/Residential/ Full-Time
LOCATION: Central Africa

NES Global Talent is a leading global technical recruitment company providing professional contract and permanent staff to a diverse world-wide client base within the oil & gas industry. Our client is looking to hire a Sr. Process Engineer on a direct hire basis in Equatorial Guinea, Central Africa. 

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

 

  • Provide expert technical assistance and process support to the Plant.
  • Make recommendations to solve issues for presentation to other Departments.
  • Responsible for the development of the process engineers through the various professional levels, through providing direct technical guidance and professional mentorship
 

 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

  • A BSc in Chemical or Process Engineering, with at least 7 years work experience in a related field. Methanol Process experience would be beneficial.
  • Intimate knowledge of the theories and application of Root Cause analysis and troubleshooting techniques accepted by COMPANY (Either ABS Consulting, TapRoot, Ishikawa 5-Whys and/or FishBone Diagrams with process mapping)
  • Strong safety and environmental performance.
  • Strong ability to work with others in a multi-cultural and national environment.
  • Strong communication and networking skills, especially with respect to guidance and development of junior engineers.
  • An ability to manage conflicting work priorities and timelines to deliver real performance improvements.
  • Strong knowledge of safety and the pro-active application of new techniques to improve safety performance.
  • Strong bias for action to identify potential problems and co-ordinate their resolution before they become an issue.
  • Continual enthusiasm and a desire to assist the team improve performance.
  • Detailed knowledge of design Codes and industry standards as applied to petrochemical facilities, including Process Safety Management (PSM) Project engineering and/or experience leading projects.
  • Works effectively with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent English written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Ensure compliance with current Company Regulations.
  • Maintain safe working practices as specified by such regulations.
  • Provide training and guidance to entry level process engineers and engineering interns.
  • Drive alignment of company's engineering processes to global standard.
  • Initiate and lead high-impact projects delivering value to the organization.
  • Serve as an agent of change – gain support of other managers and staffs in order to effectively change current practices and ways of thinking.
  • Understand and implement problem solving and improvement techniques within the engineering department to help identify/develop new process and improve existing ones.
  • Undertake other tasks or assignments which may from time to time be directed as required by senior management.
 

KEY TASKS

 

  • Provide Process engineering expertise to improve the safety, quality, environmental performance, reliability, operability and efficiency/productivity of the COMPANY Methanol Plant.
  • Address plant problems presented by studying the problem, determining the root cause and developing procedures, policies and or facilities to overcome the problem.
  • To support the Management of Change (MOC) activities to ensure integrity is maintained throughout any project design development process as well as ongoing production operations.
  • Provide process engineering input to the project development to ensure the as built design fully meets the design basis.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to optimize plant designs for cost effectiveness, reliability, operability and maintainability.
  • Participate/lead in Process Hazard Analysis studies (PHA)
  • To provide ongoing process engineering support for HSSE, reliability, equipment performance, plant optimization and cost performance
  • Track key plant data, analyse trends and make recommendations to correct deviations.
  • Perform studies as needed using simulation computer programs and other engineering calculation tools.
  • Learning and Development of COMPANY’s National Workforce:
    • Monitor, evaluate & assess individual performance of subordinate engineers at work with a specific focus on the identification of appropriate training and development needs.
    • Work with managers, training co-ordinators and other relevant personnel to plan and effect suitable OJT and other training to fulfil EGN training and development needs.
    • Develop meaningful assignments for assigned engineering interns as well as engineers assigned by Government entities as appropriate.
    • Develop Personal Development Plans (PDP’s) for assigned entry level engineers.
  • Develop scope for potential Engineering Projects.
  • Prepare AFE’s for consideration by Plant and Company Management.
  • Manage construction projects as needed to insure that projects function as designed and are built within the approved budget.
  • Liaises with external parties including vendors and engineering contractors to meet the plant operational needs as well as long term strategic goals.
  • Participates in active development and management of the department’s PSM elements of PHA, PSI & MOC.
  • May be required to act in the position of Technical Manager or Superintendent in periods when these personnel are out of office.
 

 

STANDARD OF PERFORMANCE

 

The Senior Process Engineer shall ensure that the following standards of performance are achieved:

 

  • Complete studies of plant issues within the required deadlines.
  • Coordinate with other plant departments to address issues brought to the Department.
  • Demonstrate a strong proficiency with the English language, or agree to ambitiously pursue and demonstrate continued improvements in an Company-sponsored English language training program of the Company’s choice.
  • Be consistently present with sound mind and body at the workplace during all designated hours of work.
  • Adhere to all facets of the Company Code of Conduct and the COMPANY General Policies and Procedures.
