Job Description

Responsibilities  
  • Facilitate implementation of HSSE processes and tools by actively visiting job sites to assess the HSSE risk and effectiveness of HSSE systems in place; including regular HSSE Observations, HSSE talks, HSSE audits/ assessments, training sessions, implementation of HSSE measures, promotion of safe work practices and ensuring interest & awareness of HSSE is maintained at all levels.
  • Build solid relationships with relevant Supervisors, Management, Construction Co-ordinators representatives.
  • Ensure early involvement of HSSE at project proposal, award and mobilisation phases, including;
    • Ensuring HSSE needs are adequately budgeted within projects.
    • Participate in project start up work and ensure thorough contractor HSSE assessments and conduct evaluations and pre-qualifications as required.
    • Ensure contractors are clear on Alliance HSSE expectations and requirements and ensure HSSE roles, responsibilities, objectives and targets are agreed and understood by all parties.
  • Facilitate Project HSSE Risk Assessments and ensure projects are covered by robust and comprehensive HSSE Management Plans.
  • Deliver accurate and timely submission of Alliance statistics and associated outputs to both the Operations HSSE department, and if required the sub-location. Establish and maintain statistical data concerning all matters of HSSE.
  • Highlight trends for future action and ensure that the right information gets to the decision makers.
  • Monitor HSSE records to ensure timely follow though, quality investigations, adequate corrective actions, and timely close out.
  • Ensure all incidents and near misses are investigated in accordance with company procedures and Root Cause Analysis is applied as required. Work with customer and contractors to ensure integrated processes.
  • Coordinate and implement HSSE initiatives and promotional activities targeted at continual improvement and achievement of stated HSSE performance and objectives.
  • Provide guidance and support the location in a similar manner if required.
  • Assist the location with the preparation of HSSE data/ information for tender proposals and manage the location HSSE processes.
  • Ensure robust injury management process, establish relationships with preferred medical providers and ensure process is known and understood by all Supervisors and Employees. Establish and manage rehabilitation needs and return to work programs, including ongoing consultation, monitoring and evaluation of injured employee. Ensure contractor injury management adequate.


Qualifications & Skills  
  • A recognized degree or equivalent qualification, ideally in OHS
  • Additional post graduate qualifications, accreditation or training including
  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (IGC)
  • Lead auditor in ISO18001.
  • Approximately, at least 5 years to include HSSE related experience preferably in the sector of Oil & Gas or construction.
  • Sound experience in the relevant discipline in the same or similar industry, including direct experience in the operation, construction or maintenance of hydrocarbons, industrial infrastructure, power and minerals & metals industries. Site and construction experience is preferred.
  • Approximately, at least 5 years to include HSSE related experience preferably in the sector of Oil & Gas or construction.
