Principal Scientist - Cellular Pharmacology / Neurology - Biotech - Oxfordshire

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Principal Scientist to join the Cellular Pharmacology Group of an established and highly successful Biotechnology company in Oxfordshire. Are you experienced in Stem Cell Biology and Neurology and interested in the opportunity to have a significant impact in the translation of candidates to the clinic?

Responsibilities:
  • Development of disease relevant in-vitro models for drug target validation, the characterisation drug candidates and identification of biomarkers
  • Act as scientific lead for the development of cell-based neuronal systems utilizing stem cell and progenitor cell biology
  • Management and development of of a team fo PhD level Scientists
  • Leadership of projects and contribution to driving innovation and strategy within drug discovery
Requirements:
  • PhD in Biological Science (Cell or Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology) 
  • Significant experience in Cell Biology, including working with induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), neuronal cultures or neural progenitor cells
  • An up to date knowledge of imaging technologies such as multi-colour flow cytometry as well as as appreciation of molecular biology and gene editing technologies such as CRISPR
  • A strong background in the validation of various drug targets and delivery of drug candidates
