Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Promote safety management culture across all contractor activities by taking ownership and demonstrating visible commitment to safety. 

Complete works in line with Overhaul Services processes and procedures as required for best in class overhaul delivery and as dictated by the Overhaul Manager,

Use of the Project Management Office and Project Delivery Model on overhauls together with Safety, Quality and Contractor Management best practice programmes.

Liaise and report to the Overhaul Project Manager or his designee (Lead Electrical Engineer) in respect to work relating to his scope of work.

Liaise with station and Asset Management Specialists as required in respect to Inspection and Test Plans and assuring the management of Quality during the outage programme.

Timely production of specifications for procurement and refurbishment of power plant electrical equipment, and overhaul services together with technical evaluation and clarification of contractor’s bids. This will extend to procurement of other areas where required.

Working effectively with the established procurement process and procurement specialists, under the direction and guidance of the overhaul manager and overhaul finance officer

Manage electrical projects from inception, specification, procurement, installation, commissioning and handover to client. 

Factory inspection & site installation supervision where required

Working effectively with station operation and maintenance staff to deliver a seamless programme of overhaul works in line with the station safety rules and safety management system

Provision of detailed planning, method statements and risk assessments where required.

Monitoring environmental, health and safety, and QA compliance

Administer Work Permits, Method Statements, Risk Assessments and other associated documentation

Regular technical and project status progress reporting and presentations as requested

Assisting the project manager and overhaul team as directed.

Maintenance of records in line with project requirements

Completion of a close out report for the outage for works managed on the advised template and/or as advised by the PM.

The role will be based on a 10hr day Mon-Sat. Sunday working may be required depending on progress of work. Nightshift can be a requirement of this role.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

Essential

CCGT Electrical Maintenance and Overhauls Experience

Experience of Generators, Transformers, HV/MV/LV Switchgear, Cables, Metering & Protection equipment, Synchronising equipment, IPB’s, Diesel Generators, DC Systems and UPS systems.

Ability to work and share knowledge and competencies within a team structure

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Candidate shall demonstrate the ability to manage contractors during the execution/commissioning phase of projects.

Flexibility which is important in all aspects of the role, including travel nationally and internationally.

Candidate shall demonstrate strong safety leadership, planning and technical report writing capability.

Proficient computer skills including MS Excel, MS Project 

Thorough understanding of the relevant Health, Safety and Environment Standards and procedures prevalent in stations in Ireland

Previous experience of Power Station Electrical Safety Rules essential.

Desirable

Candidate shall possess previous relevant overhaul experience 

Knowledge of Safety Rules

Knowledge of CCGT plant start-up, shut down and commissioning

Knowledge of ATEX systems

Qualifications

 

Essential

Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline or equivalent work experience

Minimum experience of 3 years (Post Qualification) in electrical power industry

Full Drivers licence and access to a car is essential.

Location

 

Power station in Dublin City south side of the river Liffey, however attendance at meetings offsite may be a feature of this role.
