Our client, a growing Chemicals Operator, has a permanent opportunity for an Operations Manager to be based near Omaha, NE.
 
JOB SUMMARY
 
The Operations Manager will manage operations and will be responsible for operating the ammonia plant in a safe, reliable, cost efficient, and environmentally responsible manner to achieve safety, production, quality, and budget goals. He/ She will participate on the site leadership team to develop the site strategic plan, annual goals, drive gap closure efforts, and ensure alignment of all plant activities with the company strategic plan. The Operations Manager will provide leadership, development, and coaching to direct reports and support staff to achieve business results, create value, and optimize the site. This position reports to the Plant Manager.
 
REQUIREMENTS
 
  • Performs liaison responsibilities between the sales and marketing personnel then defines and implements production plans to meet forecasted sales volumes and inventory objectives. Ensures that BU business objectives are aligned with and executed in the respective production units
  • Identify and implement solutions to mechanical, personnel, scheduling, analytical and technical problems within the department
  • Direct department related efforts for ISO quality systems conformance
  • Develop annual safety and training plans for the production and maintenance departments and evaluate periodically to achieve plan. Responsible for leadership and successful implementation of EHS programs, including compliance with environmental permits, and EHS improvement projects
  • Analyze plant operations, plan and develop improvement programs to ensure safe operations, increase rates, improve yields, upgrade quality and ensure reliability of production units
  • Develop departmental budget and control costs to meet objectives
  • Responsible for monitoring and controlling of direct and indirect operating costs, variable operating costs (yields and efficiencies), capital investments and related non capital expenditures
  • Designated as the Site Responsible Engineer (SRE)
  • Participate, lead, and implement site, regional, and corporate initiatives in ammonia plant
  • Responsible for implementation and adherence of corporate standards
  • Responsible for preparing and managing the plant in a cost efficient and responsible way that meets both budget goals and needs of the site
  • Participate actively with the business team to create, plan, organize and execute short and long range objectives to ensure continued site and business alignment, efficiency, and effectiveness
  • Accountable for day-to-day execution across all areas of the operational facility
  • Ability to produce operational procedures and manuals for site
  • Manage Shift Supervisors with indirect management of operations team
 
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND/ OR TRAINING
 
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or 10+ years’ experience in the field accepted in lieu of degree
  • Minimum of 8-10 years’ of experience in a petrochemical or refinery environment
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ in previous supervisory and/or management experience is required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in 24 hour production plant, experience working with shift work
  • Knowledge of operating procedures and chemical reactions
  • Knowledge of and experience with HSE, operating, maintenance, and engineering processes and procedures, business fundamentals, and shared services role in manufacturing
  • Strong people and organizational leadership acumen demonstrated through previous experience within manufacturing and across the organization
  • Ability to interface with all organizational levels within the company
