Systems Administrator – Permanent - Liverpool

Essential:-   Looking for a Systems Administrator that has a manufacturing background, you will have experience of VMWare, Citrix, VLan.  Client currently working on a £40 million project, virtualising their systems.

To provide Systems Administration, technical support, change management activities within a  Manufacturing IT environment, Systems Administrator to ensure high availability, reliability, compliance and ongoing improvement of business critical automation infrastructure and related applications.  Systems Administrator provide specialist knowledge relating to Manufacturing IT including MES, data historian and associated Automation/IT solutions, and be a subject matter expert.

Act as key interface between Automation, Manufacturing and IT Department, providing technical support across Manufacturing IT infrastructure and applications.  Promotes and develops communication between the business, technical staff and suppliers to integrate cross functional business needs.  System administration and day-to day support for Manufacturing related IT (MES, data historian, automation virtualized platforms and vLAN)

Provide end-user support for Automation including troubleshooting problems in manufacturing and working closely with IT to troubleshoot problems.  Diagnoses and troubleshoot technical issues related to IT areas (e.g. network, OS, 3rd party software).  Provide support to testing and validation teams for functional and integration testing (IQ/OQ/UAT).  Actively promote a safety culture, insuring all HSE responsibilities are fulfilled.  Actively maintain and promote a cGMP compliant culture, ensure the highest standards are applied within his/her area in accordance with the Orange Guide and CFR regulations.  To continuously explore and identify new and improved solutions, targeted at improvement in quality and operational performance of the Manufacturing IT solutions.

Proactively maintain knowledge of industry best practice and developments within MES, data historian, IT network and security solutions.  Continually explore and identify new and improved solutions, targeted at improvement in quality and operational performance of Manufacturing IT solutions.

The Systems Administrator must have well developed interpersonal and communication skills to achieve success in their role.  Expertise in a broad range of areas related to Manufacturing IT and Process Automation.  Hands on experience of development and administration of Manufacturing IT (e.g. VMWARE, Citrix, MES, Data Historian etc.) and other process control and OEM control systems is essential.   Technical competence, time management, diplomacy, assertiveness, and the ability to work under pressure are also essential.  A positive and pro-active approach is needed to aid resolution of issues. 

Preference will be made for candidates with system administration experience in the following:

•             MES solution (Werum PasX)

•             Historian solution (OSIsoft PI)

•             Automation/IT integration (e.g. SAP ERP, MES, Historian, Siemens PCS7,

              SCADA/PLC)

•             Vision based products / serialization applications
