NES Global Talent is a leading global technical recruitment company providing professional contract and direct staff to a diverse world-wide client base within the Oil & Gas Industry. Our client is a reputable operator within the oil & gas sector and has an exciting opportunity for a IT Systems Administrator on a 6 month contract.
 
The successful candidate will be a part of team of IT System Administrators within the Information Technology department reporting to the IT Support Lead. The IT Systems administrator is responsible for the effective & efficient provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of server systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. They will be required to perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. They will also be required to carry out regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
 
Candidates will be required to perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media. They will be responsible for investigating and troubleshooting minor issues as well as upgrading and configuring system software in line with project and/or operational needs. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining the data centre environment and monitoring equipment.

Candidates applying for this role must have Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA) or UNIX, Linux equivalent certification. Suitable candidates must be self-starters, be comfortable working semi-autonomously with minimal guidance and supervision. They need to be very proactive in terms of identifying issues and/or improvement opportunities, developing solutions to remediate, and implementing those solutions in a timely manner.
