Job Description

Logistics Specialist/Crude or Oil Products Scheduler

3 to 10  years of experience 

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business or related discipline

3-5 years experience in scheduling Crude oil or Oil Products or coordination of petroleum supply, inventory management and supply chain logistics; 5+ years a plus

Experience in Refining, Pipeline or Chemical Operations is an asset

Solid proficiency in use of Tableau, MS Office, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook

Preferred Knowledge/

Skills/Abilities

Scheduling of clean products (gasoline and diesel) utilizing pipeline and/or marine

equipment. Responsible for keeping terminals well supplied and moving product timely

from proprietary refineries or 3rd party locations.

Coordinates with refineries, sales and marketing to forecast and plan supply / demand balances, trigger buy / sell signals to traders.

Schedules the movement of crude and/or oil products via various methods of transportation: waterborne, pipeline, rail truck.

Nominates requirements to pipeline, marine, rail or truck carriers; monitors and executes product movement from origin facilities into and out of terminal tankage and truck racks.

Manages inventory to agreed operating targets and year-end levels; sets appropriate terminal safety stock levels.

Maintains supply reliability to refinery, marketing and/or third party customers.

Good understanding of optimization, long term planning of cargo supply, market conditions, how to control or reduce operational costs, contract terms & conditions and invoicing

Understands all Quantity, Quality and Cost issues with Oil Purchases & Sales Contracts.

Provides feedback on logistical capabilities and limitations of the supply chain system in support of the development of long range integrated supply and distribution strategies.

Communicates supply disruptions and unplanned supply events; assesses and implements mitigating steps. Uses commercial judgment & problem solving skills to solve operational problems.

Interfaces with key logistics partners to ensure effective operations.

Supports refinery, pipeline, and terminal volume growth initiatives.

Ensures adherence to credit guidelines, regulatory and quality compliance, and transportation policies (i.e. vessel screening process).

Assists accounting with issues / adjustments as needed
