Job Summary

The Mechanical Commissioning Lead is Project Position responsible to facilitate communication of various project execution-issues among the mechanical/machinery team, affecting design, operation, safety, and regulatory compliance of equipment and facilities as well as assisting and support of the commissioning manager to complete all commissioning activities to meet project deadlines and all project safety, system completion and handover targets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Full responsibility for particular work areas and associated systems
  • Gain alignment with engineering and fabrication contractors on project mechanical/machinery needs, objectives, and requirements
  • Evaluate/supervise work performed by contractors, sub-contractors, and long lead equipment vendors
  • Participate actively in the project HSE program
  • Participate in factory acceptance tests (FATs), model reviews as required
  • Oversee mechanical/machinery activities within assigned work areas including quality, cost, schedule, and contract administration issues
  • Support the commissioning manager by coordinating/communicating various issues among the contractor and company engineering teams that affect the commission, operation, safety, and regulatory compliance of equipment and facilities
  • Lead contact with contractors for activities within assigned work areas
  • Identify/assess deviations to contract technical specifications and regulatory requirements
  • Participate actively in the project’s change management program
  • Support other discipline commissioning targets and objectives
  • Support development of commissioning and maintenance manuals and procedures
  • Ensure regulatory compliance of company activities
  • Respond to project review requirements and information requests in a timely manner
  • Support project quality assurance and quality control requirements
  • Ensure project lessons learned are documented and recorded
  • Participate actively in the project's HSE program
  • Provide personnel to witness contractor activities as requested by contractor and coordinate completion of relevant paperwork for submittal into the completions management system to confirm of the completion of the activity
  • Ensure CPD actions are executed
  • Attend meetings with contractor and updates progress, reports commissioning activity status
  • Other duties as assigned
Experience and Education

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in oil and gas commissioning required
  • Engineering degree or technical qualification recognized or professional certification, technical institute background preferred
  • Knowledge of appropriate regulatory restrictions
  • Knowledge of following systems: upstream oil and gas facilities, utility systems, power generation
  • Proficient usage of advanced systems completion computer software applications
  • Management of work systems and best practices procedures
  • Proven ability to manage quality, time, team and budget on large and small multi-disciplinary projects
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate well with others
  • Proven ability to manage quality, time, team and budget on large and small projects
  • Proven ability to promote and manage client relationships
  • Develop internal training courses and materials
  • Proven ability to manage quality, time, team and budget on discrete scopes of work
