Job Description

A global oil and gas operator are on the lookout for a Oceanographer / Metocean Engineer on a long term contract basis in Perth, WA.

The purpose of the position is:

To support the Lead Metocean Engineer to deliver of high quality meteorological and oceanography support and advice to the offshore FPSO project.
To provide technical advice in line with industry practices and competitive global standard and to enable top quartile operating and safe performance under all forecast metocean conditions.
To undertake metocean analyses to provide accurate and timely advice for the operation of assets and design of facilities throughout the project development process (from assess to operate).
To undertake the quality control and reporting of metocean data and the analysis of metocean events
To specify and supervise numerical modelling of physical processes including winds, waves and currents for the above purposes.
To support management of contracts of weather forecasting and real-time systems.

Requirements:

First degree in mathematics, science or engineering and MSc or PhD degree in oceanography, meteorology, mathematics, ocean engineering or hydrodynamics.
Must have experience working as a metocean engineer in offshore engineering company or preferably Operator experience and providing metocean design advice.
Advanced knowledge in application of metocean data for the offshore industry. Experience in the development of metocean databases using wind and spectral ocean wave models and / or ocean current modelling.
Recognised competency in metocean engineering with evidence in undertaking metocean data acquisition, data analysis, development of design criteria including extreme value analysis using advanced techniques.
Some experience in response-based design, pushover analysis or reliability analysis is desirable.
