Job Description

Embedded Software Engineer – R&D - Contract – Wiltshire

One of the leading global automotive tier 1 suppliers is looking to add to their R & D division of software and platform development with an experienced Embedded Software Engineer. You’ll be developing and maintaining diagnostics firmware solutions for the independent aftermarket as part of an agile development team.

Responsibilities
 

  • Ensure high standard quality code through testing, debugging and use of software quality practice tools
  • Write maintain and review software requirements, design and architecture
  • Collaborate with international teams and provide technical support to other software teams
  • Negotiate process, metrics and targets
  • Investigate problems reported by customers
  • Code using C/C++ programming, assembly languages and automatic code generation from modelled environments
 

Essential

  • University degree in Engineering or appropriate Science discipline (Computer Science, Electronics, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in similar embedded system product development role
  • Experienced in programming of C and C++ (OOP knowledge is advantageous)
  • Good knowledge of microcontrollers and hardware schematics
  • Experience of diagnostics protocol (CAN and K-Line is advantageous)
Desirable

  • Knowledge of C#/.net is beneficial
  • Knowledge of PIC micro assembly language is advantageous
  • Experience with Infineon Aurix family of microcontrollers (Preferably tasking tools chain)
  • Experience using software test verification tools such as Tessy, and CAN based test tools (Canalyser, Canape, PCAN or ValueCAN
