Infrastructure Engineer – Permanent – Altrincham

ESSENTIAL:-  Win10 rollout across the estate.  Client estate is HP hardware. Server a mashup of 2008 / 2016 but projects are in to become a 2016 estate based on HP hardware. Virtualised on VMWare 6.5 Storage we are on NetApp FSA’s. Network is a mix of HP Procure and Cisco. Cisco 2960X for Layer2, 3850X’s for Layer3, 4331’s ISRs. Fortigate firewalls. Windows Admin:-  AD configuration, Group Policy, Image rollouts, Software deployment.  Network Admin - Network design, configuration of Cisco and HP switches, Firewall and VPN setup. VMWare vSphere virtual technologies. Desirable:-  Cloud computing preferably AWS.  MS Office 365.  Administration and configuration of Telephony systems, particularly VOIP.  Network management.  Windows scripting

Infrastructure Engineer Job Description

  • Under limited supervision provide system and application level support / management of enterprise systems including installation, configuration and ongoing maintenance
  • Provide advice on best practice with regard to configuring, supporting and maintaining all Windows, network and associated systems within the organisation.
  • Provide support to development and production environments, liaising with the IT team, the development team and 3rd party vendors on a daily basis
Infrastructure Engineer Duties and Responsibilities

Pro-actively monitor network and system performance, respond to network-reported and customer-reported problems and manage problem resolution, providing 'out of hours' support as required

Take ownership to ensure that all problems are resolved in a timely and efficient manner

Coordinate with suppliers and customers to expedite problem resolution

Use system configuration management tools to automate and standardise system changes and configuration

Through pro-active and systematic review, discover problem areas which could negatively impact system performance or customer satisfaction

Monitor key suppliers service levels and highlight where Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are not being met

Assist in defining new processes in response to industry trends

Personal Skills / Attributes Required

•        Graduate calibre with MCSE and CCNA certification highly desirable

•        Proven experience of working in a dynamic IT environment

•        Able to prioritise tasks effectively and adapt to changing priorities

•        A team player; able to contribute to a dynamic, fast paced environment.

•        Desire to learn about new products and keep abreast of new product developments

•        MUST be willing to work out of hours if required
