Job Description

Our client, a global leader in diversified mining and metals company and are eagerly seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their exciting team. This role will be based in the South West of Australia and will offer you an excellent employment opportunity while enjoying a country lifestyle.

This Mechanical Engineer role see you be a member of one of the largest and lowest-cost bauxite mining and alumina refining operations in the world. Our client manages a bauxite mine, alumina refinery and port operations in Western Australia’s South West.

The opportunity

This role will provide mechanical engineering support to the operation. This involves the execution of tasks associated with providing mechanical technical support for proposed engineering modifications and projects. In addition you will:

  • Act as a mechanical engineering subject matter expert within the organization and take responsibility for planning, designing and implementing mechanical engineering solutions that meet the needs of projects or operational areas
  • Accountable for initiating and guiding projects with strategic importance to the business such as long-term sustainability and material risk reduction projects
  • As a technical leader, providing guidance to the management on the technical direction of work, risk and cost and ensure the timely delivery of engineering designs according to required standards
  • Enable both short-term and long-term planning in sustaining capital infrastructure through the capital budget process; ensuring accurate and updated planning assumptions are incorporated into short range forecasts and 5 year plans
  • Ensure engineering designs meet required standards and validate that they are correctly implemented in accordance with those standards; identify and drive/ implement opportunity for improvement in designs and standards
  • Engage and interact with entities both within and external to the business in order to establish best practice for equipment standard, strategy and selection
  • Act as a technical authority for reviewing any changes to the plant engineering layout and standards through the change control system
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance to engineering standards, statutory regulations and company practices and processes
  • Contribute towards ensuring a safety orientated and high-performance culture for the team
  • Working with the team effectively and in a proactive manner
Role Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience working in a technical role in mineral processing, oil and gas or power generation sector
  • Project Engineering exposure to mining, mineral processing and relevant sectors
  • Design experience would be advantageous
