Machinery Condition Monitoring Analyst

Basic Function
The Machinery Condition Monitoring Analyst is
experienced and knowledgeable in the monitoring
technologies for rotating equipment. The role
supports continuous machinery reliability
improvement. The machinery condition monitor
analyst will be responsible for the collection, analysis,
and reporting of the health of process equipment
using predictive indicators including vibration,
thermography, oil analysis, and key operating
parameters. This position works closely with
operations, unit engineers and maintenance
personnel in troubleshooting efforts, and collaborates
on repair criteria.


Roles & Responsibilities
• Day-to-day data acquisition from rotating equipment
• Perform analysis of data to resolve or proactively
anticipate equipment failures using the following
techniques and hardware:
• Vibration - trending, spectrum analysis, time-wave
signals, phase angle analysis, gap voltages, impact
testing, thrust position, and load cells.
• Lube Oil - work with 3rd party service provider to
complete sampling of on-site machinery oil systems.
• Implements and refines continuous monitoring
systems, such as alarm, report, and acceptance
regions as well as establish routes and their
• Report equipment deficiencies utilizing tools such as
SAP and make recommendations regarding action to
take. Verify accuracy of predictions against shop
follow-up reports and KPI's
• Drive scheduling of repairs through ownership of
notifications and corresponding follow-up
• Collaborate with responsible Maintenance/Reliability
Specialists, engineers, planners, and supervisors to
ensure proper priorities are placed on deficiencies
and continuous learning/improvement process is
• Utilize SAP, Meridium, root cause failure analysis
reports, vibration history, oil trends or thermography
tools in problem solving
• Perform or monitor in place and shop repairs and
balancing of rotating equipment
• Support the lubrication program by monitoring its
effectiveness or, when required, take samples,
interpret analysis, and take corrective actions


• Perform other duties related to this function to
ensure the reliability of plant rotating equipment
Min. Qualifications
• High school diploma and a minimum of 5 years of
experience in troubleshooting and repair of rotating
• ISO Category II Vibration Analysis certification must
be held or obtained within one year of placement
• Proficient in the use, application, and maintenance
of vibration data acquisition software, diagnostic
equipment, and on-line monitoring systems used to
track the health of the site's rotating machinery.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to
communicate effectively verbally and in writing with
all levels of the organization
• Strong interpersonal skills for the resolution of
issues associated with machinery
• Critical analytical skills to effectively evaluate
equipment performance and troubleshoot equipment
and process problems
• Basic understanding of other predictive techniques
to include Beta, thermography, and lube oil analysis
• Strong IT computer skills with experience in
Microsoft Office suite and SAP
• Strong drive for results
