Duration: 6 months rolling contract
Work Pattern – Monday-Friday (occasional offshore travel)
Reporting to the Lead Decommissioning Engineer - Topsides & Pipelines. This position is responsible for the planning, design and scope development of geophysical & environmental data gathering, relating to the decommissioning of pipelines and subsea items, inclusive of the clean-up and, if required, removal of pipelines, risers and J-tubes, umbilical’s, mattresses and associated subsea facilities.
The primary focus of the role is to acquire the required geophysical knowledge necessary for the sites containing our offshore facilities selected for decommissioning and determine the required decommissioning methods applicable to the subsurface infrastructure. Additional support will be provided to the Topsides & Pipelines team and wider decommissioning department in performing any necessary engineering including production of drawings, schedules and compilation of workpacks associated with general decommissioning of the topsides and pipelines.
You will be able to specify, plan and procure services and equipment, associated with pipelines, jacket appurtenances and decommissioning of subsea equipment. You will have Quality Assurance responsibility for all geophysical data and interpretations, ensuring regulatory compliance of the related subsea decommissioning activities. You will work closely with, and provide support to the wider Decommissioning Teams and will develop and maintain close working relationships with both the onshore and offshore teams in both the definition and delivery of this work.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
Develop Scope of Work documents for geophysical and hydrographic survey requirements, or subsurface cutting and recovery operations allowing the Procurement team to go out to tender.
Ensure the procurement process is followed from market consultation to commercial close-out of the operation.
Prepare tenders/request for quotations for the scope of works that require external contractors. Review and rank technical offers to provide a recommendation.
Prepare and review bridging documents with marine contractors and perform Company Representative Role when required.
You will be responsible for the mobilisation of, and oversee marine operations for the selected survey contractor, performing the Company Vessel Representative Role when required.
Review, and report upon acquired geophysical data including inspection methods such as sidescan sonar, multibeam echo sounder, sub bottom profiling, magnetometer, and environmental sampling.
Develop solutions for found objects such as objects, boulders, scour, free spans, displaced mattresses, UXO etc.
Arrange and manage vessel operations required for severing of risers, pipelines, umbilicals and mattress recovery.
Perform audits of contractors when required and ensure adequate competencies of offshore contractors personnel.
Provide operational support during offshore execution phases.
Ensure decommissioning activities are adequately prepared and documented, whenever required through a Management of Change process.
Perform project close-out, inclusive of commercial close-out, lessons learnt and reporting.
Support the wider Decommissioning Team in:
o Assessing the most appropriate strategy for subsea items and pipelines decommissioning with regard to regulation and commitments.
o Preparing combined operations for decommissioning projects.
o Prepare, engineer and manage any subsea and marine scope of work related to P&A, dismantlement or barge operations.
o Prepare cost estimates for future decommissioning projects.
Experience / Qualifications
Engineering degree, preferably in a mechanical, structural or process discipline.
5 years Oil & Gas Project Engineering in a comparable role.
Experience in Geophysical Survey management and subsea equipment installation, operations and/or removal.
Offshore working experience of marine/subsea operations.
Working knowledge of project management principles, planning, logistics and relevant legislation desirable.
Experience using AUTOCAD software desirable.
