Job Description

Our client, a large oil and gas company, is currently seeking 2 Material Coordinator's for a 1 year contract in Edmonton, AB. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for the facilitation of end to end materials management, including optimizing materials usage and transactional excellence, fulfillment of materials procurement through purchase order tracking, direct vendor interface and kitting services to ensure schedule alignment.

Main Responsibilities: 

The Supply Chain (SC) organization provides end-to-end materials management services to clients:requisitioning, logistics coordination, receiving, storage, kitting/staging, and deliveries for maintenance jobs and repairs/returns.

 

Optimize material sourcing decisions

  • Prioritize consumption of materials on hand prior to new purchase (identify opportunities to consume and diminish inventory).  Leverage materials on hand across the site
  • Review work schedule and influence planners and execution team to manage purchasing demand
  • Core material analysis:  review material needs with business line (B/L) Planners, research material availability and locations (B/L expensed materials at site or at a different site, warehouse stock at site or at a different site), and source materials from lowest cost location
  • Create purchase requisition if material needs to be purchased, driving procurement from approved  and agreement vendors
  • Manage vendor delivery performance for purchased materials, monitor cross-plant movement of  materials to ensure timely delivery
  • Analyze material consumption trends and identify cost savings / optimization opportunities
Master Data

  • Analyze SAP master data issues and identify improvement opportunities
  • SME for master data changes and improvements
  • Facilitate resolution of SAP data issues interfacing with Acquisitions, Global Inventory Management (GIM), and the B/L
    • Accountable for material optimization, consumption, and metrics
  • Support planners with Bill of Materials (BOM) creation and updates
Act as primary interface between B/L maintenance planner and Supply Chain

  • Track goods receipt/delivery status of materials
  • Inform B/L planner once WO or job pack is ready for execution
  • Understand B/L schedules for kitting
  • Coordinate on-site logistics as required
Act as primary interface between vendors and Supply Chain

  • Accountable for timely material delivery, arranging logistics per B/L needs
  • Track open purchase orders
  • Contact vendor to identify and resolve issues; incl. P2P recycle, identifying root causes
Manage kitting services

  • Coordinate kitting activities with warehouse; provide updates as needed (materials added/deleted to WO)
  • Expedite POs required for kitting

Skills/Knowledge Required:


  • Strong knowledge of Purchase to Pay, B/L Planning and Scheduling, and warehouse operations processes
  • General knowledge and application of materials, how and where materials are used in the plant
  • Knowledge of vendor and 3PL supply base
  • Advanced SAP skills (plant maintenance and EWM), SAP material catalogs, search tools, requisitioning
