Job Description
NES Global Talent are seeking a Senior Umbilical Engineer for a 12 month contract position based near LondonApplicants must have be an EU passport holder and be eligible to work within the UK.
Duties:
Preparation and review of umbilical cables and ancillaries detailed design analyses and calculations, technical drawings, procedures and reports;
Elaboration of technical scope of works based on client’s documentation and Company procedures, following direct liaison with suppliers and other disciplines/functions;
Capable of running Technical Readiness Level / Technical Risk Categorization assessments based on suppliers provided information and Company provided requirements.
Review of technical proposals and technical recommendation of umbilical system solutions;
Preparation of budgetary estimates for umbilical systems;
When assigned to a job, act as the technical single point of contact for the subject matter;
Perform design verifications through single discipline checks (SDC) / inter-discipline checks (IDC) processes;
In the lack of consolidated and comprehensive information, support and guide other disciplines, as required, with reasonable umbilical system assumptions and technical insights
Fluency on the ISO 13628-5 / API 17E and its supporting standards such as ASME, ASTM, IEC and DNVGL;
Knowledge of SURF systems architecture and requirements, including SPS and SCM hardware;
Previous experience with design, manufacturing and testing of either thermoplastic or steel tube umbilical systems, preferably for deep water and dynamic applications;
Practical knowledge of thermoplastic and steel tube umbilicals manufacturing processes;
Experience on qualification/verification testing (procedure elaboration, acceptance criteria definition, test witnessing and results consolidation / correlation to theoretical models) and FATs witnessing;
Capable to interpret, understand and review engineering design reports, procedures and the umbilical system related drawings (ancillaries, schematics, field layout, cross sections);
Pragmatic approach when solving engineering and the umbilical package related problems;
Good knowledge on the umbilical installation processes and its required engineering interfaces, being capable of identify, understand, solve and close-out potential technical problems and risks;
Capable to represent the discipline in Risk Assessment, HAZIDs, HAZOPs, FME(C)A and ensure close out of identified action items;
Requires expanded conceptual knowledge in own discipline and SURF related disciplines;
Capable of building knowledge of the company, processes and customers
Qualifications/Skills needed
Experience with Orcaflex and AutoCAD software is recommended;
Previous experience on renewable cables and related equipment design, specification and installation will be a differential.
FEA knowledge and software domain will be a differential
