Job Description

NES Global Talent is a leading global technical recruitment company providing professional contract and permanent staff to a diverse world-wide client base within the oil & gas Industry. Our client, a well-known operator company, currently has an opportunity for a Plant Operator. Must be local to the Fort St. John area and will be expected to work 12 hour shifts on a 7/7 rotation.


  • Responsibly and consistently monitors and operates the plant through a control room.
  • Conducts surveillance of operating equipment and critical parameters, while keeping accurate operations logs.
  • May prepare equipment for maintenance and perform maintenance and preventative inspections.
  • Identifies improvement opportunities and work with others to implement changes.
  •  Supports and complies with the policies, goals, efforts, and programs of COP's Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System.

  • Min 3 years of Oil and Gas plant operation experience
  • 4th Class Power Engineer
  • Commissioning and Start-up experience will be considered an asset
  • Provides technical/functional and/or administrative support.
  • General working knowledge of specific systems, terminology and procedures used within the department.
  • Performs routine tasks. Able to solve problems and make basic decisions.
  •  Have a full and comprehensive understanding of all the process and safety systems to control the facility in a safe, effective and efficient manner.
  • Understanding of amine sweetening, condensate stabilization, conventional refridge, compression, power generation/distribution and plant utilities
  • Understanding of water treating processes (chemical and mechanical), slurry dewatering and storage pond management would be an asset
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Ensure the safety of the work environment for all employees
  • Responsible for starting up and shutting down processing facilities under normal conditions as well as under emergency conditions including timely notifications as required.
