Our client is currently seeking a Product Specialist for a one year contract in Mississauga Ontario

Product Specialist

  •  
    • The primary responsibility for the role is to design and execute formulation strategies to produce patentable chemistries which assist plants to survive under biotic and abiotic stresses and to manage the scale up of those chemistries to achieve commercialization
  • Key Accountabilities:
    • understanding the ‘state of the art’ in plant health sciences,
    • formulation of plant protection chemistry product candidates,
    • development of protocols for candidate assessment,
    • conducting the in-lab/in-greenhouse/in-field testing and evaluation of the candidates,
    • providing direction to third party researchers on protocols and processes to complete candidate testing
    • preparing final reports on efficacy to support documentation required for patenting processes
    • Establishing protocols for scaling the chemistry from bench testing to full commercialization
  • Required Qualifications:
    • Knowledge of plant activator compounds and their formulations to invoke positive biotic and abiotic effects in plants.
    • Knowledge of scale up from bench to pilot production
    • Literature search, understanding and extrapolation of findings
    • Understanding of new scientific discovery patenting principles
    • Ability to produce concise, actionable reports
    • Ability to work collaboratively with highly technical outside academic resources
    • Ability to mentor and direct activities of third party research staff
    • Ability to work with collaboratively with global licensee partners to ensure proper manufacturing and technical troubleshooting for new products
  • Experience and Education:
    • Master or PhD accreditation in science, chemistry, health sciences
    • Work experience in related field (agronomy / human health)
    • Product formulation experience
  • Skills and Knowledge:
    • Produce formulas and understand the effect of formula structures, formulation parameters and ambient conditions on inducing plant responses
    • Understand the effect of environmental factors on the efficacy of formulas
    • Understand the effect of delivery system on the light stability and controlled release of formulations
    • Screen activity of nanoparticles developed using high sheer technology
    • Collaborate with greenhouse testing and evaluation activities
    • Carry out literature and patent searches and present finding to colleagues
    • Write of reports and patent applications
    • Communicate with outside vendors and consultants in North America and abroad
    • Develop scale up process in preparation for product launch
    • Interface with global licensee partners to ensure manufacturing start-up and technical troubleshooting is managed as products are introduced to the market
