NES Global Talent is a leading global technical recruitment company providing professional contract and permanent staff to a diverse world-wide client base within the oil & gas Industry. Our client, a large Oil and Gas operator, is currently seeking a Business Analyst for a contract in Calgary, AB.

Business Analyst

Reporting to the Products Trading workstream lead, you will support the scoping, requirements gathering, design and implementation of new products trading activities.  You will be working with individuals from the Supply, Trading and Optimization (ST&O) business unit, various finance and planning functions, various marketing functions, and various supporting business units to implement required changes.

Key Accountabilities

  • Prepare materials for senior leadership including gate keeper and steering committee members
  • Develop approval documentation for the new products trading activities by soliciting feedback and approvals from numerous supporting business units
  • Coordinate and facilitate new products trading activities working team sessions to ensure effective use of stakeholder time
  • Develop pro-forma segment reporting to support design recommendations
  • Provide guidance around process changes within STO to support the build out of new supporting functions to the Products Trading business
  • Map current state business function processes and create future state business processes
  • Promote, educate and support change as it relates to the project with other business units and key business unit stakeholders
  • Identify required data and process requirements, and collaborate with appropriate functions to build out the new requirements
  • Work with all ST&O and non-ST&O functions to ensure robustness of process, including Font office, Middle office and Back office requirements
Required Qualifications


  • 5-10 years’ experience within the oil and gas industry, preferably with downstream experience
  • Professional project designation (Prosci, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, CBAP, PMI-PBA) or MBA preferred
  • Undergraduate degree in business or economics
Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to interact and provide expert advice to director level audience
  • Knowledge of refined products and subsequent markets
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency in PowerBI, Excel and MS Office 
  • You are naturally curious and are able to ask the right questions that will help shape strategy
  • You are a self-starter and work well in a dynamic environment
  • You are organized and able to work on parallel activities
