Job Description

NES Global Talent is a leading global technical recruitment company providing professional contract and permanent staff to a diverse world-wide client base within the oil & gas Industry. Our client, a well-known operator company, is currently seeking a Business Advisor in Calgary. The qualified candidate MUST be local or have accommodations in the Calgary area as no LOA will be given. The schedule is Monday to Friday.

JOB FUCTION :
  • Senior position in the team responsible for the development and implementation of an Activity Based Costing model as well as mentoring and developing junior analysts
  • Develop economic model to prioritize asset opportunities
  • Detailed analysis of business area costs
    • Perform monthly OPEX &/or CAPEX stewardship review with budget owner
    • Identify monthly accruals, allocations and transfers for Controllers to update in SAP
    • Provide insight into cost structure and cost drivers for the budget owner
    • Understand impacts to asset cash conservation plans and strategic initiatives
  • Support Corporate Plan Development
    • Ensure integration with supporting functions (Controllers, Business Analysis & Reporting)
    • Support annual plan development and monthly spend detail for next year’s stewardship
  • Drive improvements in the planning and budget cycle for the asset; continuous improvement approach
    • Develop Activity Based Costing models and Tier 2 value driver trees
    • Support software development; mapping from SAP to Tableau or other Financial software to support strategic decision making
  • Support strategic requests from the leadership team (special analyses, asset initiatives, communication package development, etc)
DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Oil sands mining or mining experience is desired
  • Financial background (CPA or Economics Degree )and experience in business cost analysis roles
  • Analytical and inquisitive; willing to go the extra mile to understand business drivers
  • Excellent ability to communicate both written and verbal
  • Draw conclusions from data to support management decision making
  • Proficient in Excel and SAP; experience with Tableau is preferred but not required
  • 10+ years of experience; opportunity to hire as permanent employee
