NES Global Talent is a leading global technical recruitment company providing professional contract and permanent staff to a diverse world-wide client base within the oil & gas Industry. Our client, a large Oil and Gas Company, has a long-term contract opportunity (potential to transition to staff) for a Petrochemical Commissioning Manager. This role will initially be based in Calgary with travel to site. Individual will need to relocate to site in a couple years time. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for building commissioning plans and schedules to support successful start-up the facility
  • Responsible for development and execution of  facility commissioning execution and start-up plan
  • Responsible for coordinating and overseeing activities of the Commissioning Team relating to commissioning, including commissioning interfaces between projects
  • Works with Operations Managers to develop Handover / Completions process for acceptance of assets on a turnover system basis (peer reviews, punch lists, completion packages, system walk downs, Pre-Start Readiness Reviews and acceptance criteria)
  • Ensures adequate scheduling of support resources for effective execution of commissioning activities
  • Supervises Completions Leads assigned by Operations Managers
  • Attends Project Team meetings, design reviews, PHAs, as required
  • Ensures coordination of Vendor Commissioning assistance relating to project
  • Ensures preparation of system / subsystem drawing markups
  • Ensures completions documentation is prepared and assembled to support System Turnover Packages
  • Ensures functionality of completions database software to support system turnovers
  • Responsible to ensure resource planning, interviewing, and hiring occur to support the commissioning activities
  • Ensures resources present for System Mechanical Completion walk downs upon receipt of Notice of System Mechanical Completion
  • Ensures System Mechanical Completion walk down Punch Lists are entered into tracking database and actioned appropriately
  • Verifies and provides signature for acceptance of System Mechanical Completion
  • Verifies completion and provides signature for Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning documentation, ‘B’ & ‘C’ Inspection & Test Records / System Completion Packages.
  • Ensures Commissioning Punch Lists are entered into tracking database and actioned appropriately
  • Reviews Commissioning Punch List Items with Project Construction Manager and assigns appropriate ranking for resolution
  • Validates and issues Hold Point releases
  • Ensures attendance of Completions Techs for module inspections prior to shipment, Factory Acceptance & Site Acceptance Tests
  • Liaise with technical writer(s) for preparation of Commissioning and Start-up procedures
  • Liaise with interface team and pipeline control to coordinate SCADA preliminary and final point to point checkout
  • Ensures resources assigned to witness and validate final SCADA checkout
  • Validates completion and provides signature for pre-start safety reviews (PSSRs)
  • 10 or more years of experience in managing commissioning activities of large scale integrated facilities, preferable related to the petrochemical industry
  • Preference will be given to candidates with specific experience with propane dehydrogenation or polypropylene/polyethylene facility experience
  • Academic qualifications typically include a post-secondary education (university, college) in a related discipline such as engineering or science.
  • Canadian project experience 
  • Ability to work in Canada without sponsorship
