Data Scientist – Permanent – Kingston upon Thames 

Data Scientist Responsibilities 
  • Responsible for leading data & analytics initiatives on behalf of marketing business teams in areas such as Consumer Marketing Insights & Media.
  • Define, construct & execute reporting & analysis requests in respect of marketing initiatives, identifying & selecting internal/external traditional & digital marketing data sources to fulfil them.
  • Consult with business teams regarding their requests on data discovery, reporting & analytics in order to define projects & support end-user requirements.
  • Use appropriate modelling & statistical techniques to provide ongoing recommendations for data driven business decisions.
  • Communicate analytical results, insights & recommendations in most effective way to the business.
  • Communicate with &, when required, provide oversights to data & analytics suppliers when necessary to deliver accurate & timely services to the business.
  • Champion the use of analytical tools within the organisation, showcasing the value of integrating multiple data sources ultimately to educate internal business analysts on making the most efficient use of the capabilities available.
  • Work together with IT & Business teams to standardise processes & operationalise solutions regarding the use of data & analytics.
  • Engage with IT team on data industrialisation activities, to ensure key data sources are brought in the client environment & made available through the appropriate tools to the business teams.
  • Have a deep understanding of data technology in the perplexing landscape of digital marketing; where the data is stored, how it flows & how it can be accessed & analysed
Data Scientist Essential Experience / Skills
  • BA/ BSc Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or similar discipline
  • In-depth experience of quantitative & qualitative statistical analysis, including collecting, analysing, interpreting data & generating insights/ recommendations.
  • Experience of digital marketing technology landscape, especially around data flows & tracking methodologies.
  • Experience in coding in a language suitable for data mining, preferably Python or R.
  • Exposure to unstructured data & methodologies for analysing it in a meaningful way.
  • Confident use of & ability to communicate to others about complex data in a way that is easily understood & inspire confidence in business stakeholders & senior management.
  • Core understanding of digital data & analytics
  • Experience in working with marketing teams, understanding their key objectives with a view on the use of analytics can help drive the right decisions.
Data Scientist Desirable Experience
  • MA/ MSc Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or similar discipline.
  • Comfortable working with technology consultants, both in a strategic & tactical context.
  • Experience in working with tools in social/digital marketing such as Google Analytics, social media listening tools.
  • Exposure to Big Data/Hadoop technologies with some experience in Hive, Spark.
