Job Description

Our client, a leading Civil & Environmental Consultancy who operate primarily within the Water Industry in Scotland, are currently seeking to hire a number of Graduate Design Engineers for ongoing water-related projects. 

Role Summary:

Main responsibilities will include but are not limited to;
  • Achieve agreed output targets for project whilst maintaining quality of work
  • Conduct problem solving/analysis and escalate any issues
  • Work with project engineers and other design team members in an integrated approach 
  • Maintain technical quality ensuring designs meet client specification 
  • Operate in accordance with the corporate health and safety, environmental and quality standards
  • Provide technical assistance to staff, within specific areas of responsibility and expertise as required
  • Provide support in the preparation of technical reports and documents, drawings and design calculations
  • Complete scopes of work within agreed time frames 
  • Work collaboratively within an integrated team environment to deliver design solutions
  • Liaise with design team members
  • Assist Senior Engineer with any other needs or requirements of the business
  • Support the management and the Design Lead to ensure the successful delivery of robustly defined technical solutions
  • Undertake own continuing professional development under guidance from Line Managers

Other responsibilities
  • Escalate issues of importance to Design Lead to include investigation reports where required
  • Use appropriate software to provide advice, solutions and successful project outcomes for clients
  • Attend and contribute to project meetings internally and with clients
  • Provide guidance to Graduate Engineers and Technicians working on the same projects
  • Promote good working practices 
  • Liaise with clients Water Operations when necessary
  • Any additional duties as and when required

Essential Experience/Qualifications:

- BSc Civil/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent - Water Industry experience or equivalent utilities background - Computer literate - Proficiency with Microsoft Office packages - Excellent client service focus - Ability to work well both in a team and independently - Strong communication skills – both written and oral - Highly organised and able to multi-task - Ability to understand technical aspects of the project, predominantly from a civil/hydraulic aspect - Experienced level of decision making and ability to prioritise and manage conflicting demands - Proficiency in AutoCAD/Basic knowledge of GIS Systems
