Drilling Technical Manager

Job Summary

The Technical Managers primary role is to oversee all aspects of the Drilling Services Operations Base to ensure on time and quality delivery of services according to operational needs and company guidelines.  The Technical Manager will be a key adviser on the design and set up of the Drilling Services Operations Base.  The Technical Manager will design and oversee implementation of all processes and procedures with regards to maintenance and delivery of equipment.  The Technical Manager is an adviser when evaluating 3rd party providers and potential partners or acquisitions with regards to their maintenance and QA/QC business systems and processes.   The technical manager will assist in forecasting asset requirements both field and maintenance. 

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Design and set up of the operations base
  • Overseeing the design and implementation of all maintenance and QA/QC processes
  • Overseeing the implementation of all maintenance and QA/QC business systems
  • Manage the day to day operations of the workshop and facility ensuring both equipment and personnel are available.
  • Works with supply chain, stores and field operations to deliver quality service
  • Advises supply chain on 3rd party providers
  • Advises management on acquisitions with regards to maintenance processes and procedures
  • Manages communication with equipment suppliers with regards to technical support and improvements required
  • Coordinate movement of equipment between international locations
  • Keep accurate records of the workshop and facility personnel’s timesheets
  • Participate in the financial planning process as per company requirements to as accurately as possible forecast equipment and personnel requirements
  • Implement, maintain and monitor company HSE management systems in accordance with government and company standards; visibly promotes HSE culture
Experience and Competency
  • Minimum 10 years of experience: 5 years maintenance experience and 5 years management experience
  • Competent in LEAN to improve quality and efficiency
  • Knowledge maintenance financial performance indicators
  • Asset forecasting experience
  • The Technical Manager will report to the Drilling Services Country General Manager
