Our client, a growing Operator, has a permanent opportunity for a Maintenance Planner (Instrument, I&E, Electrical) to be based in Cameron, Louisiana.


The Maintenance Planner (Instrumentation) reports directly to the Maintenance Planning Manager and is responsible to manage the maintenance planning processes, conforming to company standards and world class best practices as part of an integrated operation, maintenance and reliability team.

The main responsibility of the Maintenance Planner (Instrumentation) is to produce quality work packs in support of the maintenance function, identifying the tasks and labor required to execute the work safely and efficiently, as well as all associated materials and equipment. This position will also be responsible for developing and updating maintenance job plans and preventive maintenance instructions (PMs), coordinating the procurement and ensuring the availability of required materials, tools and equipment.

This position requires close coordination with Maintenance personnel, as well as with the Production, Technical Services, Supply Chain Management and HSSE departments.


Manage Instrumentation maintenance work orders, from the moment work is identified until it can be handed over to a maintenance scheduler.

Develop detailed job plans, identifying required manpower, materials, equipment and services. Perform accurate job cost estimates.

Support the development of risk assessments for the Instrumentation maintenance jobs.

Request materials, equipment and services required to execute the planned jobs. Coordinate with the Procurement department to ensure all materials, equipment and services are available before the work is ready for scheduling.

Create and update standard maintenance job plans and PMs and maintain the job plan library to ensure improved efficiency of the maintenance activities.

Adhere to established work processes and practices. Ensure compliance with the Control of Work processes, including permitting, isolations and risk identification, as well as other Company’s policies and procedures.

Maintain a high level of standards relating to the safe, environmentally sound, timely and cost effective planning of maintenance activities.

Drive continuous improvement in planning maintenance work. Provide guidance and recommendations for improving planning and scheduling procedures.

Work with other departments within Company to ensure that an effective and efficient planning process is in place and utilized by all departments, and that risks associated with the jobs are properly identified and understood.

Support the successful execution of outages, monitoring progress and reporting status, identifying potential issues and capturing lessons learnt.

Support the development of medium and long term maintenance plans.

Attend all scheduled training and support training and the onboard process for new employees.

  • Education and Certifications: Relevant technical discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in a natural gas plant, a petrochemical plant or refinery is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience with planning or leading the execution of Instrumentation maintenance work is required
Skills: Effective organizational skills to be able to manage multiple activities timely and with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, to interact with individuals and groups from different disciplines and levels.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Computer knowledge, including Maximo, Primavera or Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status.
