POSITION TITLE:  Process Safety & Operational Excellence Engineer

LOCATION: Greater Baton Rouge Area, LA

Our client, a petrochemicals company is looking to hire a Process Safety & Operational Excellence Engineer on a direct hire basis based in the Greater Baton Rouge Area, LA.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Responsible for the integration of PSM and Operational Excellence principles to enhance the overall compliance, performance, and productivity of facility operations
  • Responsible for the organizational learning and facilitation of incident investigation, causal factor analysis, and preventative actions utilizing the core elements of PSM, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other productivity toolsets
  • Enhance operational excellence and best practices through knowledge sharing, process optimization, and implementation of PSM elements
  • Responsible for selecting & implementing the company’s Process Safety Management software
  • Conducts initial and ongoing training to all personnel of PSM software
  • Manages compliance with PSM requirements, including MOC, PSSR, and PHAs
  • Ensures relief valves are managed properly through the PSM or maintenance software
  • Assists in incident investigations and cause mapping
  • Assists in identifying training needs
  • Collaborates with EHSS Manager on ticketed incidents & accidents; takes corrective action and institutes preventive plans
  • Reports open & incomplete items in the PSM system to the necessary parties; determines actions needed to close items
  • Reports weekly/monthly reports to the EHSS Manager, using PSM system as database
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned
 ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • 15+ years of experience in Process Safety Management required
