NES Global Talent is a leading global technical recruitment company providing professional contract and permanent staff to a diverse world-wide client base within the oil & gas Industry. Our client, a large Oil and Gas Company, has a full time role for 2 Senior Project Engineers for a Petrochemical facility. This role will be based for 18 months in Germany. Individuals need to be able to relocate for that duration. 

Key Responsibilities  
  • Support the Project Manager in development of the overall Project Execution Plan (PEP) and coordinate the input from various disciplines as required
  • Support the Project Manager in development of the construction contract scopes of work and bid packages
  • Control and manage engineering scope. Develop strategies to execute within approved budgets or minimize scope growth when it is evident that growth is required
  • Monitor technical design changes to reduce cost over-runs such that only necessary changes are made as they apply to safety, code/specification compliance, maintainability or operability
  • Responsible for adherence to the EPC phase schedule. The Project Engineer 'owns' the schedule
  • Establish sound philosophies, strategies and plans so as to minimize / eliminate the need for change during the execution and construction phases
  • Provide timely involvement of key end-users, customers and stakeholders (Logistics, Commissioning & Start-up, Construction, Operations, Maintenance etc.) in support of the design development process thereby mitigating cost and schedule impacts due to preventable late changes
  • Manage all interfaces touching the EP Contractor scope and make decisions regarding scope, schedule and cost and working with the Engineering Manager will assist in resolving issues related to engineering design
  • Proven interpersonal, communication, negotiation and leadership skills to act independently in a technical role in an open, honest and ethical manner
  • B. Sc. in Engineering
  • P. Eng. designation in the province of Alberta
  • Minimum 15 years of experience with progressive responsibility that includes at least 5 years of capital project experience on large oil & gas or petrochemical projects in the province of Alberta over $500 million
  • Extensive demonstrated experience as a representative on an Owners project management team for large, complex projects and business processes involving internal and external stakeholders
  • Must possess a strong working knowledge of the regulatory requirements for working in Alberta and Canada
  • Experience working in an EPCM environment is an asset
  • Experience working on a job site with contractor management/oversight on greenfield and brownfield projects is an asset
  • MUST be able to relocate to Germany for 18+ months
