Job Description

NES Global Talent is a leading global technical recruitment company providing professional contract and permanent staff to a diverse world-wide client base within the oil & gas Industry. Our client, a large energy company, is currently seeking someone in their office in Markham, ON. The qualified candidate MUST be local or have accommodations in Markham area as no LOA will be given. The schedule is regular hours, Monday to Friday.



• Program lead role for one or more environmental management programs (e.g. Hazardous Waste, Environmental Compliance Approvals, Spill Awareness and Prevention, Environmental Assessments and Screenings, etc.)

•Develop and sustain environmental policies, procedures and programs for application throughout company

• Develop, communicate, support and actively promote environmental management programs; this may include delivering presentations, training courses, information/awareness sessions, working with external environmental consultants, etc.

•Support business (including key contractors where appropriate) with all day-to-day environmental inquiries including providing timely response to environmental issues from field locations throughout franchise area

• Developing scopes of work and reviewing environmental reports prepared by environmental consultants; providing expertise and recommendations to business on environmental findings

•Preparing and reviewing correspondence and reports for internal and external stakeholders such as the Ontario Energy Board for projects meeting Leave-to-Construct criteria

• Participating and facilitating meetings with internal/external stakeholders to discuss environmental projects, develop strategies and work towards resolving environmental issues

• Identify opportunities for improvement or gaps, and solution options for business decision and implementation

• Support EnCompass data collection and management within environmental department including supporting software upgrades, testing and validation, creating reports, facilitating training as needed

• Other duties as assigned




• Post-Secondary education in Environmental Engineering or Science; graduate level degree considered an asset

•  Professional designation in environmental field (e.g. P.Eng., P.Geo., EP)

• 7+ years applied, progressive environmental experience

•  Demonstrated understanding of provincial and federal environmental legislation, including Ontario Energy Board and National Energy Board environmental requirements

•  Experience developing, implementing, communicating and sustaining corporate environmental management policies, programs and procedures

• Experience designing and completing environmental work programs including: Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, Environmental Impact Assessments and Screenings, Species at Risk Assessments, and Environmental Restoration and Remediation projects

•  Experience developing and maintaining Environment Management System (ISO 14001) and/or Safety Management System (OHSAS 18001)

•  Excellent ability to effectively communicate throughout the organization, work constructively and supportively in a team environment and build positive relationships

• Strong analytical skills, able to apply objective and critical thought to managing and resolving issues

• Experience and ability to respond to emergency situations and travel as required

• Highly organized, self-directed with the desire to contribute to a dynamic and face-paced environment
