LNG Recruitment Case Study

Challenge: we were selected to recruit and engage project team members for the Kitimat LNG project. The project sites for this initiative were spread across the Americas and wider globe which meant we needed to leverage our local talent pools in the following locations:

  • Houston (USA)
  • Calgary, Kitimat, Terrace and Surrey (Canada)
  • Yokohama (Japan)

Solution: Using our international talent network we were able to attract and onboard a broad array of skilled LNG professionals. Our comprehensive assignment support offering enabled us to organise the required accommodation, transport (flights and vehicles) and work permits to get the contractors to the project site within the tight timeframe. The large workforce was made from a combination of personnel repatriating, and those relocating internationally for the first time. In all scenarios we enrolled them on compliant payroll solutions to meet local tax legislation.

We care about our contractors and do what we can to ensure they settle into a new working location. To ensure that the technical staff were comfortable, our team met individuals at the local airports and took them to interim accommodations, providing an opportunity to answer any questions that they may have. We also helped to ship personnel belongings.

We supported 40+ contractors on this project when it was pushing for an initial investment decision.

The key positions differed largely in seniority and included: Engineering (Mechanical (Rotating / Static Equipment) / Electrical / Process / Civil / Instrument and Controls), Advisors (Project Controls / Contract / Environment / Operations), Management (Engineering / Procurement / Construction), and a Project Director.
