CASE STUDIES

  • Our Client’s Challenge

Our client, a major oil and gas operator in the Gulf of Mexico, required an Owner’s Representative Team that would oversee their EPC/Construction companies to deliver a flagship Tension Leg Platform (Olympus) that would expand an existing offshore oil and gas field.

    Our Solution

NES demonstrated the strength and breadth of our global talent pool to source and provide the workforce they required in three locations - South Korea, Houston and Ingleside, Texas.

Some of the key positions included: Construction / Engineering Lead, Project Engineer, QA/QC Lead / Inspectors, Structural / Mechanical Engineers, Project Controls Engineers, Planners and Schedulers.

    The Outcome

Our experienced teams helped to build and mobilise a competent workforce for the client which went on to deliver the project without any delays or compliance issues.

  • Our Client’s Challenge

Our client, a major Oilfield Services provider, won a large scope of production work in Abu Dhabi requiring the urgent mobilisation of over 80 contractors within 6 weeks.

    Our Solution

Our dedicated team of specialist recruiters based in Abu Dhabi were able to quickly identify, qualify and interview suitable candidates before referring successful applicants to the client for final sign off.

Once signed off, the candidates were referred to our UAE Assignment Support team who then mobilised them to the UAE, taking care of all logistics.

    The Outcome

We filled over 65 positions within just 4 weeks, and the remainder within 6. As a result, the client was able to meet their strict project deadlines.

  • Our Client’s Challenge

Our client had a significant staffing requirement for the pre-construction, construction, and hook-up phases of a high-profile North Sea offshore project.

    Our Solution

Our team of experienced recruiters worked alongside our client's HR and training divisions to identify a pool of suitable candidates.

We used our international database of experienced oil and gas professionals to source prospective candidates and then invited them to an assessment day close to home in the UK.

    The Outcome

Multiple placements were made, allowing our client to build a comprehensive offshore team for their project. Our detailed methodology ensured 100% compliance for all parties and all mobilisations ran to schedule.

  • Our Client’s Challenge

Our client, a wholly-owned Sarawak State Government company formed to spearhead the State’s participation in the oil and gas sector, had experienced difficulties when searching for a Chief Finance Officer (CFO) in a candidate-short market. The CFO position was critical to the client’s business strategy but the role had remained vacant for more than three months.

    Our Solution

Our team in Malaysia liaised with the client’s HR team to gain an in-depth understanding of the role requirements.

Then, using our established networks and connections, we undertook a discreet direct headhunting effort enabling us to map out the market and target our search to the active and passive market. A pre-qualified shortlist was then generated within tight timescales.

    The Outcome

A successful placement was made in a quick timeframe. The client was impressed with our short-listed candidates and our rapid execution of the scope. We are continuing to collaborate as their preferred supplier to assist in driving their business forward and securing further key hires.

  • Our Client’s Challenge

Our client was supporting the Operations and Maintenance of the Tayseer Gas Processing project. Initially, they worked with another supplier to staff the project but quickly found their supplier was struggling to provide a compliant visa service meaning they had experienced continuous delays in mobilising personnel. Some staff had their visas revoked because their paperwork was incorrect / the wrong visa had been issued.

    Our Solution

Upon being brought onto the project, we appointed a dedicated Account Manager to work closely with the client and introduced a new efficient and compliant onboarding process. This new process reduced their average onboarding time from 4-8 weeks, down to just 1-2 weeks.

    The Outcome

Our rapid but thorough process enabled the client to get back to their project schedule and meet their projected milestones. The successful transition of contractors and the new hires we sourced has led to NES becoming the single-source supplier for all of the client’s future visa and payroll requirements moving forward.

  • Our Client’s Challenge

Our client was in the preliminary development phase of the Pacific Trail Pipeline project in Western Canada, involving initial surveying, geotechnical and preliminary clearing and construction works. They needed to engage the right team of contractors to carry out the work.

    Our Solution

Our team of dedicated experts in Canada used our local knowledge and vast pool of candidates to source and select contractors from concept development through to construction. The roles included Safety, Environmental, Regulatory, Project Engineering and Construction personnel.

    The Outcome

Our success in finding and selecting the right talent for the client’s initial scope meant that we became a key partner in delivering this project on an ongoing basis through the provision of further technical personnel. The project was ground-breaking in its field, delivering a 480-kilometre natural gas pipeline that ran from Summit Lake all the way to the Kitimat LNG facility site at Bish Cove on the northwest coast of British Columbia.

  • Our Client’s Challenge

Our client was aspiring to design, build and operate an LNG import terminal in northern Germany which would be the first of its kind. The client needed a large volume of skilled personnel but because this project was unique, there was a lack of suitably skilled engineers with the required experience. On top of this, the client needed to source personnel quickly to stay within the project schedule.

    Our Solution

We established a project office in Hamburg and used our existing talent networks coupled with our vast social media following of technical personnel to launch a campaign which would source, attract and place the volume of staff required. We also assisted in obtaining visas for personnel outside of Germany, performed all background checks, and provided payroll services in the local currency.

    The Outcome

We interviewed 115 candidates and progressed 60 to the shortlist stage for an interview with our client. The quality of candidates was so high that 25% of these candidates made it through to the second interview stage. As the project progresses, we will continue to supply more skilled candidates and look forward to supporting our client with their project.

  • Our Client’s Challenge

Our client is a global Oil & Gas Operator and was undertaking a Deep Conversion Project in Port Arthur, Texas. The project included a 50,000 barrel-per-day coker, a desulfurization unit and a vacuum distillation unit, amongst other equipment. To oversee the project, they needed a vast number of candidates with varying skill sets.

    Our Solution

We were selected as their preferred workforce supplier due to our local office presence in Port Arthur and wider office network across the State, which enabled access to a large database of qualified technical candidates. Once a candidate was successful we provided them with industry safety and site-specific training courses depending on their remit, for example harness training, working safely at height and working within crawl spaces to prepare them thoroughly for their assignment.

    The Outcome

We provided personnel ranging from high-level Cost Engineers to Field Quantity Surveyors, Contracts Admins and Mechanical Maintenance Technicians. Our success in delivering the initial scope enabled us to continue as their preferred supplier for further projects.

  • Our Client’s Challenge

Our client won its first major FEED / EPC LNG project within the US and needed to significantly increase their workforce in a very short period of time. As it was a new project type to the client, they did not have a pool of personnel to draw from and needed the support of a workforce solutions provider.

    Our Solution

Our expert team designed a robust marketing strategy to raise awareness of the company brand in the candidate market, targeting passive as well as active candidates and ultimately built out a full Midstream FEED/EPC project team of over 200 engineers in the allotted time frame.

    The Outcome

We greatly streamlined the client’s hiring processes and reduced time to hire ratios so that the placed team could hit the ground running. After demonstrating our recruitment capability and from building a comprehensive project team so quickly, we signed an exclusive onsite agreement to be their workforce staffing function going forward.
